Turning 30

So, yes... I am alittle behind on my posts and this one especially. Don turned 30 back on the 2nd of February. He was kinda having a midlife crisis about it..... saying how old he was and it was kinda freaking him out. SO... I decided to surprise him by flying his best friend, Matt out there to spend the entire weekend with him. A HUGE guys weekend! Well, Don guessed that that's what I was doing for him so I had to throw him off. I made him think that we were going away for the weekend, without the kids. I even had someone call the house and leave a message on our answering machine, confirming our reservations at a hotel. I even made sure to play it while Don was in the room so that he over heard it. Well, it worked cause I had him totally convinced and even confused as to what we were really doing for his birthday. SO.....

The day before his birthday, Matt flew in and I picked him up from the airport and we had a GREAT idea on how to surprise Don. We drove straight to the grocery where I dropped Matt off and told him to watch for Don. Then I called Don and asked him if he didn't mind swinging by the grocery store on his way home from work to pick up some things for me. Well, he feel for it.... hook, line and sinker!!!!! Now... the funny part begins.

Matt spots him in the grocery store and made sure to be in the same isle with him but not to really make eye contact. Don was TOTALLY oblivious! So, Matt kinda followed him around the store for a while. Then Don STILL had no clue so he went to check out. Matt got in line behind him. I think that it was about this point in time that Don kinda started to notice that something weird was going on. He even PULLED OUT HIS PHONE, and tried to secretly TAKE A PICTURE of Matt without him noticing. He was going to send it to me saying, "Oh my word, this guys looks JUST LIKE MATT!" Ha ha! STILL HAD NO CLUE!!! So, Don paid for the groceries and started to walk away. Matt, being the smart man that he is says to Don, "Excuse me sir! I think that you left this." Don turned around and looked at Matt and said, "Are you Matt?" How sad is that? Don had to ASK!!!! HA HA HA!!!!

While all this was going on, I was sitting out in the parking lot on the phone with Stacie, Matt's wife and my best friend, waiting in such anticipation. I saw them FINALLY walk out of the store, got out of the car and just started screaming! We got him good and it was SO funny to rehash the story over and over again. YEAH!!!! So, a perfect start to a GREAT weekend!

So, the remainder of the weekend was a huge guys weekend. There was LOTS of video gaming going on...... from Madden to Timesplitters to of course, Guitar Hero. And let me just point out that I WHIPPED MATT'S BUTT on Guitar Hero. OH YEAH!!!!! We also had one night where Don, Matt and I went out to the casino, had dinner, played laser tag and shuffle board. It was alot of fun. And yes.... I kicked both Don AND Matt's butt in shuffle board. (I have to brag about it when I can cause it doesn't happen very often that I beat either of them at ANYTHING!)

The boys were able to go the the movies and just had alot of fun guy time. And to top off the entire weekend.... it was SuperBowl weekend as well. I had Don convinced that we were going to have a HUGE party (which he HATES) but it really was just Don, Matt and Dana. It was alot of fun. I made up ALL sorts of football junk food and we just had a great time.

So, I think that Don started out his 30s with quite the bang!!!! The 30s are going to be GREAT on him!!!
